Forges de la Providence, was a belgian steel mill, with its own coking plant, now only this coking plant is left. The mill was founded in 1836. Roughly 100 years after that. The coking plant was build by krupp. Its currently being demolished.
What you see here are its remants. It closed in 2008 after a deal with russian company guranteed a new supply of coke. The quality of the deliveries. Never reached those of this plant. The 158 workers here lost its job. Of 6000 People that worked here in the 1960ties.
Only those jobs were left in 2008. Since then the plant was left for decay. Only the powerplant continued to operate until 2011. It got the controls for two blast furnace gas pipes. One of those two was shut down in 1995 and demolished until 2005, so a relic even older than the closure of the plant. Another detail is that the water tower and its location right next to the old ore bunkers of the blast furnaces. The coking plant was surrounded by two rows of blast furnacs. Both have their ore bunkers left standing.
