A blast furnace, preserved as a park, the last on this site and the only preserved one in northern lorraine. U4 stands for Uckange 4, which was a common name scheme for Wendel in Lorraine, all blast furnaces had their location
and their number in that certain location. Its out of service since 1994. The steel mill operated since 1890 and was build on the banks of the river mosel. Only this furnace was preserved at this location. It was deemed most historic.
